Business Days Calculator

Working days between two dates, minus the holidays you tell it about. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.

How this calculator works

Give the calculator a start and an end date and it walks the range day by day, counting calendar days, weekend days and the Monday-to-Friday business days between them. You can include or exclude the final day — contracts differ on which they mean — and you can subtract the public holidays that fall inside the range, which the tool asks for as a number rather than guessing from a calendar that may not be yours.

Business days are the unit of most commercial promises: payment terms, delivery windows, response times and notice periods are all quoted in them. The gap between calendar and business time is where disputes breed — ten business days is two full working weeks, and across a holiday season it can stretch past twenty calendar days. Counting explicitly, with the holiday assumption written down, removes the ambiguity before it becomes an argument.

Good practice and limits

When you quote a deadline in business days, state your working week and whose holidays apply, in the same sentence. International work adds a second trap: the other side's weekend may not be Saturday and Sunday. This tool assumes a Monday-to-Friday week; if your counterparty works a different one, adjust the count manually and say so.
